Posted December 24, 2008 by admin in Ontario Attractions Blog, ontario attractions | No comments yet

Bird Kingdom’s main aviary will overwhelm you with 35 foot tall palm tree’s, a 40 foot waterfall, birds of every colour and description in the worlds largest free flying Aviary!

The Main Aviary is home to over 35 species of exotic birds from around the globe. This is truly a world that the birds call their own! As you descend from the top of the rainforest canopy to the jungle floor you will discover unique creatures of flight, of every shape and description, many within just a few feet of you! We’ve convinced it’s almost like the birds are people watching!

This is a truly magical place unlike anywhere else in the world! There are daily bird encounters with our Live Collections staff and guided tours so you don’t miss a moment of wonder!

Nocturnal Animal Display

The Rainforest is home to many animals, some spooky and creepy! Explore the dark side of an ancient jungle ruin where you will encounter bats, owls and many other creatures of the night who don’t fly! Wander amid the chirping of crickets, the hooting of owls and other sounds that go bump in the night!

Normally these animals would be asleep during the day but we have reversed their internal clock by keeping it dark during the day and light at night so you will see these creatures at their liveliest! The highlight of this section is the bat feeding that occurs at 10:30am and 2:30pm daily!

Reptile Zone

Bird Kingdom’s new Reptile Encounter Zone is your chance to get up close and personal with really cool exotic reptiles from around the world. This diverse collection of lizards, snakes, tortoises, spiders, scorpions and more are on hand for you to touch and hold! So if you are in the mood to wear a 100 pound Burmese Python around your neck, pet an American Aligator or have a Emperor Scorpion crawl across your hand, this is the place! Our reptile specialists are happy to answer your questions and make your encounter unique, educational and most of all…. fun!
